Not far from Bled, not far from the highway to Austria, and not far from our apartment, there is a pizzeria considered by many to be the best in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola). It serves perfectly prepared Neapolitan pizzas made with fresh local ingredients, best enjoyed with a craft beer or a glass of Slovenian wine. This is the perfect place to visit if you want to escape the tourist crowds in Bled and experience a slightly quieter, more authentic side of Slovenia. But, it is popular and fills up quickly, especially during the summer.
Visiting Baffi House of Pizza
Baffi House of Pizza is located on Gorenjska cesta (Gorenjska Street), a short distance from the old town center. It is about 6 km from Bled and less than a 10-minute drive by car. From the highway, it is even closer — about 5 minutes from the Lesce/Bled and Radovljica exits. If you are reading this in our app, you can select Show on map in the upper-right menu to get directions from your current location.
The pizzeria has a cozy atmosphere and is situated one level down in the basement of a larger building. In the summer, there’s a lovely outdoor seating area shaded by leafy trees. The place is often full, especially in the summer, so it is recommended to book a table either on their website or by calling +386 597 62 914.
The Pizzas
If you check out the Google reviews for Baffi House of Pizza, you’ll see comments like “Takes pizza seriously,” “Probably the best pizza in Slovenia,” and even “Hard to find pizza this good in Italy.” And honestly, we couldn’t agree more.
The pizzas are top quality, yet the prices are what you’d often pay in other countries for something far less impressive.
Baffi House of Pizza specializes exclusively in Neapolitan pizzas made with natural, fresh, and locally sourced ingredients. The buffalo mozzarella, for example, comes from a small nearby farm, Kmetija pri Matevž, not far from the pizzeria.
You can read more about their cheese products here.

The Beer
At many modern pizzerias in Slovenia you will find the somewhat unusual combination of good craft beer and pizzas. So too at Baffi House of Pizza which has the Maister brewery from the town of Kamnik as its main supplier. The blog’s favorite beer is Maister Pale Ale which has hints of flowers and a smooth but contained bitterness.
