Restaurant Kodila

Restaurant Kodila is located in the small, unassuming village of Markišavci, just outside Murska Sobota, the capital of Slovenia’s Prekmurje region. Both the location and the restaurant come as a surprise, as you would hardly expect to find a restaurant and delicatessen of this quality in such a quiet village. The restaurant specialises in meat dishes and has earned a Bib Gourmand distinction in the Michelin Guide. We visited for lunch in mid-May and were pleasantly surprised by both the food and the overall experience.

Restaurant Kamin

The main attraction of Restaurant Kamin is the spectacular view from its terrace overlooking the entire Gulf of Trieste. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Grado in Italy on the opposite side of the bay, the town of Izola below, and, in the distance, Triglav and the Julian Alps. With a bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of the Dolomites. The fantastic scenery makes the excellent food taste even better.

Located in the Prekmurje region, between Austria, Hungary, and the Mura River, the restaurant has a unique setting and character. We fell in love with the place and would happily return.

Baffi House of Pizza

Not far from Bled, not far from the highway to Austria, and not far from our apartment, there is a pizzeria considered by many to be the best in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola). It serves perfectly prepared Neapolitan pizzas made with fresh local ingredients, best enjoyed with a craft beer or a glass of Slovenian wine. This is the perfect place to visit if you want to escape the tourist crowds in Bled and experience a slightly quieter, more authentic side of Slovenia. But, it is popular and fills up quickly, especially during the summer.
