Hiša (House) Polonka is a gostilna / trattoria run by Valter Kramar, co-owner of the three-Michelin-star restaurant Hiša Franko. It offers a completely different experience from Hiša Franko, with a strong focus on simplicity, charm, and authenticity in a homely setting. Not far from Bled, not far from the highway to Austria, and not far from our apartment, there is a pizzeria considered by many to be the best in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola). It serves perfectly prepared Neapolitan pizzas made with fresh local ingredients, best enjoyed with a craft beer or a glass of Slovenian wine. This is the perfect place to visit if you want to escape the tourist crowds in Bled and experience a slightly quieter, more authentic side of Slovenia. But, it is popular and fills up quickly, especially during the summer.
