Mount Brana
Mount Brana is a ridge mountain located in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. It lies along the main ridge, which includes some of the highest and most well-known peaks in the area: Kočna (2,540 m), Grintovec (2,558 m), Skuta, Turska Gora (2,251 m), Brana (2,253 m), Planjava (2,394 m), and Ojstrica (2,350 m). Brana is probably the easiest peak to climb along this ridge, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a challenge without tackling a highly technical ascent.

Mount Stenar
If you’ve done some easier hikes and feel ready to take the next step, Mount Stenar in the Julian Alps could be a great option. Climbing Stenar offers a good mix of challenge and moderate exposure. The route is long but not overly technical, with only one easy via ferrata section. For most of the climb, you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views of the Julian Alps in all directions. The north face of Triglav will be your constant companion, visible all the way from the parking area in the Vrata Valley to the summit of Stenar.

Koželj Wines in Ljubljana is a well-stocked wine shop offering wines from all corners of Slovenia, ranging from the largest and most prominent producers to smaller, more unique wineries. Here you can both buy and taste wines, accompanied by snacks. In many ways, this shop is the opposite of Štorija. Instead of a small, specialized selection, you’ll find a wide range and large variety in a well-organized store. The shop is beautifully located at Pogačarjev Square. Koželj is also a chain with locations in several cities across Slovenia.

Baffi House of Pizza
Not far from Bled, not far from the highway to Austria, and not far from our apartment, there is a pizzeria considered by many to be the best in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola). It serves perfectly prepared Neapolitan pizzas made with fresh local ingredients, best enjoyed with a craft beer or a glass of Slovenian wine. This is the perfect place to visit if you want to escape the tourist crowds in Bled and experience a slightly quieter, more authentic side of Slovenia. But, it is popular and fills up quickly, especially during the summer.

Štorija (“The Story”) is a fantastic little gem of a wine shop located on Trubarjeva street in Ljubljana. It has an organized sense of chaos where you can discover some of the most special Slovenian wines. The selection is fun and creative, with a strong focus on natural wines. Most of the bottles come from small boutique wineries that are rarely found outside Slovenia. The owner, David Šinigoj, is passionate and a true expert on Slovenian wines.

Jamnik Church
Jamnik is an ordinary village located in the pre-alps on the eastern side of the Jelovica Plateau. The village has just over 40 inhabitants. However, the church just outside the village is situated in an exceptionally beautiful location, with Gorenjska (Upper Carniola), the Karawanke mountain range, the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, and the Julian Alps as a backdrop. To the south, on the opposite side, the view extends across the pre-alps stretching for miles.
